Magda Biernat (below)

Well after a couple of rants and a pork pie I thought I better put up some nice photography and write some nice things.

I enjoyed looking at Magda Biernat's work the other night, in particular her Quietly Forgotten series, which makes a change from the usual Chernobyl-esk beauty in decay we all know and love.

I was looking through Derek Henderson's brilliant book Terrible Boredom in Paradise yesterday and its fast becoming one of my favourite bodies of work. You can see his website here but the print quality in the book is so good the web images seem weak in comparison.

While I am at it I should also mention Deutsche Börse Photography Prize which I have still not managed to pronounce. Now in its 5th year I have to admit to not knowing much about the nominated artists, but my favourite for sure is the work of Donovan Wylie and his Maze Prison images which are quite brilliant.

Quite brilliant is probably not the best words to describe the work, maybe I was just being nice. But I do like the content and the way its shot, very precise. The book by Steidl is very well put together...
As for the other photographers involved....No idea..
Not so sure about the watch tower stuff. There's a photographer who I mentioned on here some time ago who's name I have forgotten, hidden bunkers, watch towers etc and that was Quite Brilliant..
I have a couple of acquaintances that use the Digi Hass for landscape work and its pretty amazing what it can do. But it only leaves you with two choices; Hyper real, or totally unreal. Neither of which interest me. Its a camera built for the studio to shoot dollies...
Hows that Bronica holding up..?

Putting it through it's paces this coming Sunday all being well weather and wot not. It's to be used on my grown up long term project that was started with the Rolli, but the screen is too dark for my liking on that old girl. It was also made in Germany in 1938 and to be honest creeps me out a bit.... Anyway as soon as I have something from it I like I'll post it up.

Mark,
Know what you mean about the viewer. Sounds like the camera has a bit of history...
After a bit of thought I am now rooting for Anna...
